How to make a candle worth 30\u20ac and how to explain its value.<\/h3>\n

  The customer sees a 3,90\u20ac candle on a mass-produced<\/strong> shelf and then sees your handmade candle<\/strong> at 30\u20ac.
\nThe question is natural: why so much difference?<\/strong>
\nThe answer is not just “because it’s handmade”. That alone is not enough. The real answer lies in the recipe, the safety, the testing, the ingredients, the consistency and the way the product burns from first use to last. A mass-produced candle and a professional, small-production candle don’t necessarily make the same sense.
\nOne is often designed for low price, large distribution and standardized production. The other must convince with technical quality, aesthetics, aroma, burn and experience.
\nIf you are a Candle Maker<\/strong>, candle maker or small business, this article is your checklist. Not for you to apologize. 1. The base candle: not all candles are the same<\/h3>\n

\u0397 base of a candle<\/strong><\/a> is not just “candle”. It is the body of the product. On it depend  the texture, appearance, burn, intensity of aroma and sense of quality.<\/strong>
\nAn soy wax, an olive wax, beeswax or a beeswax<\/a> candle blend<\/a> do not behave in the same way. One wax gives a creamier surface, another a better temperature resistance, another a different hot throw, another a more natural positioning. There is no one right choice for everyone. But there is a right choice for the product you want to create.
\nO  Candle Maker<\/strong> who wants to stand professionally must know why he chose his base. Not because “everyone uses it”, but because it fits the  container<\/a>, the perfume<\/a>, the wick<\/a>, the audience and the price of the product.<\/p>\n

What you should be able to answer:<\/strong>
\n– Why do you use this wax?
\n– How does it burn in relation to your chosen fragrance?
\n– How does it behave in this particular container?
\n– Is it stable in your batches?
\n– Does it match your brand positioning?<\/p>\n

A premium product starts from a selected base. 2. The fragrance: the heart of the product<\/h3>\n

The perfume<\/strong><\/a> for candle is often the reason why the customer buys. It is also one of the main reasons that a handmade candle can vary significantly in cost and
\nquality. It is not enough to have a  perfume<\/a> smelling nice in the bottle. This is just the beginning. The real test is what it does inside the wax. <\/p>\n

A Candle maker should consider the following:<\/strong>
\n– Cold throw:<\/strong> what the candle smells like when it is extinguished.
\n– Hot throw:<\/strong> how the fragrance delivers when the candle burns.
\n– Fragrance load:<\/strong> what amount of fragrance works properly without altering the
\nburn.
\n– Compatibility with the wax:<\/strong> not all fragrances perform the same on every base.
\n– Technical documents:<\/strong> IFRA, SDS and other information where appropriate.<\/p>\n

The IFRA Standards<\/strong> function as international risk management system for the safe use of fragrance ingredients<\/strong> and may set limits, restrictions or bans on specific materials where there is a safety concern. This does not mean that Candle Maker should scare the customer with technical terms. It means that he should know what he is using.
\nA professional candle is not based on “I put on a little fragrance and it smells good”. It is based on selection, testing and repetition.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”221611″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” onclick=”img_link_large” css=”” parallax_scroll=”no” woodmart_inline=”no”][vc_column_text css=”” woodmart_inline=”no” text_larger=”no”]<\/p>\n

3. The wick: the small component that destroys or lifts the wax<\/h3>\n

The wick for wax<\/strong><\/a> is only small in the eye. In practice, it is the  combustion mechanism.<\/strong> The right one wick<\/a> depends on the diameter of the container, the type of wax, the fragrance, the fragrance load, the color and the overall composition. The same wick may work perfectly on one wax and poorly on another. Wrong wick can create tunneling, weak melt pool, excessive flame, increased temperature in the container or more soot. It doesn’t necessarily mean the product is “bad”. It means that  is not set correctly<\/strong> for this recipe. 4. The burn test: this is where the value is built<\/h3>\n

\u0397 combustion test<\/strong><\/a> is the point where you can tell if you’re making a product or just an object. A candle is not only evaluated when it comes out of the mould beautifully or when it smells strongly on the first day. It is evaluated  when it lights up.<\/strong> And light up again. And continue to burn properly after many hours. <\/p>\n

In the burn test you check:<\/strong>
\n– if a proper melt pool is created
\n– if the wax burns evenly
\n– if the flame remains stable
\n– if the container raises too much temperature
\n– if the aroma remains pleasant and balanced
\n– if too much wax remains on the walls
\n– if the product behaves correctly until the end<\/p>\n

Candle.gr<\/strong> already has guides<\/strong><\/a> that emphasize the importance of notes in tests, such as type of wax, wick, diameter of container, fragrance and quantity<\/strong>, and practices for proper burning. Also, measuring burn time with weighing and controlled burn times is a useful tool for the candle maker to know the duration of their product. This is where much of the value lies. The customer is not just paying for the wax and the fragrance. He pays for the failed tests he never saw. The wick changes. The glasses that were discarded. The notes, the corrections, the batches that didn’t make it to market because they weren’t good enough. That’s not an exaggeration. It’s a production responsibility. <\/p>\n

5. The container and the presentation<\/h3>\n

The container<\/strong><\/a> is not just decoration. It affects safety, combustion, the feeling of quality and the  final experience.<\/strong> A good a wax container<\/a> must have the right heat behaviour, the right diameter for the wick you are using and a quality that supports the price of the product. The glass, weight, finish and the fit of the lid – where applicable – create the first impression before the wax is even lit. <\/p>\n

Then comes the presentation:<\/strong>
\n– clean label
\n– proper labeling
\n– well-positioned box
\n– well-kept photo
\n– consistent aesthetics
\n– gift feeling without excess<\/p>\n

Not every candle needs to look like a magazine editorial. But it does need to show that someone thought of it. If you’re asking for a premium price, the presentation needs to support the message. 6. Compliance and safety<\/h3>\n

Compliance<\/strong> is not the most “attractive” part of candle making. But it is one of the most serious. When using fragrances and putting a product on the market, you need to considerlabeling requirements<\/strong> and  technical documents<\/strong> accompanying your materials. \u039f  The CLP Regulation<\/strong> covers the classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures in the EU so that the risks of chemicals are clearly communicated before they are placed on the market. \u0397 ECHA (European Chemicals Agency)<\/strong> says that labels may include items such as a warning word, pictograms, hazard statements and precautionary statements, depending on the classification of the product.<\/p>\n

For the Candle Maker, in practice this means:<\/strong>
\n– keep the SDS and IFRA documents of your fragrances
\n– check if a CLP label is required for your formulation
\n– don’t blindly copy other people’s labels
\n– keep batch records
\n– use a stable recipe
\n– consult an expert when in doubt<\/p>\n

This is not legal advice. It’s professional hygiene. A candle worth \u20ac30 should show that there is responsibility behind it, not just a good smell. <\/p>\n

7. The history of the Candle Maker<\/h3>\n

History helps. People want to know who makes the product, why they make it, what inspires them and what makes them tick  separate.<\/strong> But history alone cannot lift the price. “It’s handmade” is not enough to justify an expensive product. Handmade can also be something sketchy. Value comes when the story stands on quality, craftsmanship and consistency<\/strong>. If you say “I make candles with love,” it’s beautiful. If you say “I test each fragrance with a different wick, take burning notes and choose wax that fits the specific composition”, the customer hears something stronger. <\/p>\n

8. How to explain the price to your customer<\/h3>\n

When someone compares the price of a handmade candle to a cheaper mass-produced candle, don’t get defensive. Don’t underestimate the other product. Don’t start apologizing. Explain the  category difference.<\/strong> You can use phrases such as:
\n“The price is not just the material. It’s about testing, safety and stability.”
\n“Each fragrance is tested individually with the right wick, because not all fragrances burn the same way.”
\n“I’m not just selling a candle. I’m selling an experience that burns right through to the end.”
\n“A good candle shouldn’t just smell good on day one. It has to burn right every time.”
\n“The product has costs in materials, testing, packaging, time and repeatability. That’s what you pay for.”
\n“We don’t just compare price. We compare production process, material selection and end result.”
\nCoolness sells more than defense. When you understand your value, the customer is more likely to understand it too. <\/p>\n

9. Checklist: when a candle can be worth 30\u20ac<\/h3>\n

A handmade candle can stand in premium price<\/strong> when it has specific items behind it. If many of these are missing, the price becomes a wish.
