Pouring and testing
Use clean moulds at room temperature. The TDS provides different examples for different candle types:
- Large 3–4-inch pillar candles: first pour at 65°C and second pour at 60°C.
- Votive candles: first pour at 75°C and second pour at 70°C.
These temperatures apply to the manufacturer’s specific examples, not every mould or a general cold-weather rule. Make the second pour once the centre has solidified while the candle remains warm, addressing any cavity near the wick.
Mix suitable fragrance thoroughly before pouring. Cool undisturbed at room temperature and wait 48 hours before burn testing. Test every combination of mould, wax, fragrance, dye and wick.
Heating clarification
TDS v1.0 dated 30 October 2025 gives different wax-heating temperatures in its Colour and Melting sections: 75°C versus 80°C for no dye or pre-dispersed dye, and 80°C versus 90°C for powder dye. Confirm the correct process with Kerax before applying either set of temperatures. The document does not identify 80°C as a melting point.
Follow the specific fragrance supplier’s instructions and SDS for fragrance handling. Hot wax can cause burns.
