Make sure that the fragrance you have chosen is safe and suitable for use in fabric mist: you will need to check the file IFRA that accompanies each fragrance. In the description of the fragrance, you will find a PDF file with this name and the icon below:
IFRA
Open it up and look for category 10A – this is where the fragrance’s suitability rate for materials such as fabric spray is listed.
For example, if you see that the percentage for that particular fragrance is low, such as 3%, it means that it is not suitable for that use. In any other case, you can test the fragrance, adjusting the amount until you achieve the desired result.
Materials
To make 100ml of fabric spray, you will need the following:
- 1 Spray bottle 100ml for Fabric Spray
- 50ml deionized water
- 47ml Diffusol solvent
- 2-5ml FCF fragrance of your choice
- 1ml hydrogenated castor oil PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
Setting the Ratio for Ideal Performance
The amount of perfume you add is small – about 2-5 ml. Start with a small amount and add gradually. It is important to remember that the ml of fragrance you add must be removed from the solvent to maintain the balance of the original ratio.
Instructions
- In a clean spray container, add the deionized water and the solvent Diffusol. Mix well.
- Add 2ml of your favorite perfume to the mixture. Mix well again.
- Add 1ml of hydrogenated castor oil PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil to the mixture. This ingredient helps to homogenize the mixture and to unify the fragrance oil with the solvent.
- Close the bottle tightly with its cap and shake the bottle well before each use to ensure that the ingredients are well mixed.
Usage
Spray it fabric spray on sheets, pillows, towels or any fabric you want to freshen up. Do not overdo the amount, a few sprays are enough to give a pleasant fragrance.
Tips
- You can experiment with different fragrances to find the one you like best.
- Store the spray in a cool, dark place to preserve its freshness.
Making your own fabric spray, not only do you save money, but you create a product that is perfectly tailored to your preferences!
