Heating and storage
Avoid heating above 85°C or heating for extended periods. Stir while melting. Store the wax in a cool, dry place away from direct heat, sunlight and moisture.
Moulds
Use clean moulds at least at room temperature. Preheating to approximately 45–50°C may help.
Colour
Use suitable candle dyes. For powder dyes, Kerax specifies heating to approximately 75°C and stirring until dissolved. For liquid dyes, colour blocks or powder already dissolved in fragrance, it specifies approximately 70°C.
Fragrance and wicks
Choose fragrances suitable for natural waxes. Select the wick through testing, taking account of candle size, fragrance and colour. An oversized wick may cause soot and wax leakage; an undersized wick may cause tunnelling and a small flame.
Pouring and topping up
Start at approximately 55–65°C and adjust through testing. Add the fragrance and mix thoroughly shortly before pouring where practical. One pour is usually sufficient, but some large pillar candles need a top-up before they cool completely.
Cooling and burn testing
Let the candles cool undisturbed at room temperature, approximately 25°C. Wait 48 hours before burn testing. Test every combination of size, wax, fragrance, dye and wick.
We recommend it for making aromatic tarts and candles in silicone moulds.
