Candles in clams: a lovely, summer DIY project!

A different idea to bring summer air to our home decoration is to create candles in clams!

Combine it with FCF’s summer fragrances for an impressive, high-quality result. The most popular summer fragrances are Echo Beach, Seychelles Rendezvous, Aqua Calma (Cool Water), Tropicana and Caribbean Coconut!

Which and how much wax to use?

Our clamshell will replace the traditional container in which we would place our wax, so we will use any soft wax for containers. The amount of wax depends on the size of each clam, and because each clam is unique in shape, design and size, there is no standard amount of wax for all clams. To find the amount of wax you will need, first weigh the clam you will use. Then we fill it with water and weigh it again. The grams of water are the grams of wax we will need!

And from a wick?

The recommended wicks for wax in clamshell are the Eco-Stabilo No3 for the Clam with Striped Monkfish – Small and  Eco-Stabilo No4 for the Clam with Striped Monkfish – Large. Of course, as we said before, because each clam is unique and sizes vary, so you will have to test which wick is suitable for each clam.

The process is simple and familiar to those who already make their own candles in a container.

1. Melt your wax in Bain-Marie and add fragrance and color. For detailed instructions and quantities please consult the

2. Place the wick on the clam and fix it with glue dots.
3. Pour the wax into the clamshell and wait 24 hours for it to solidify.
