CANDLE MAKING GUIDE Wicks, frosting, pouring and fragrance. Select a question to see the answer. Pre-warming the glass before pouring helps minimise wax shrinkage as it cools. Also check that your pouring temperature is not too low. Frosting is a natural occurrence in plant-based waxes, especially soy. It creates white crystalline patches and reflects the natural character of the wax rather than a mistake. The number of wicks depends on the diameter of your container or mould. Double wooden wicks provide a stronger flame for larger containers. 5°C above the pouring temperature for the particular wax. Check the guide for your wax on its product page. Plant-based wax goes through a crystallisation phase. Allow at least 24 hours before unmoulding to help prevent breakage.Your candle-making questions, answered
